A photo of Durga Stalin standing next to a cake in the shape of the General Secretariat has gone viral on social media, claiming that the cake, made at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore by the world-renowned Dubai-based Debbie Wingham to celebrate the DMK’s victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, was brought on a private plane.
While searching for the cake to be made viral, we came to know that the cake in the shape of the Tamilnadu Secretariat building was not made in Dubai but in a cake shop called Cake Square in Chennai.
On May 3, the day after the election, the same cake photo was shared on the Cake Square Facebook page congratulating MK Stalin. Over the past couple of days, the cake photo has been circulating on social media that the photo was made in Dubai.
Speaking to Cake Square, they said, “Cakes made in the form of Tamilnadu Secretariat building are being misrepresented on social media. This cake was made at Cake Square in Chennai. The price is 30,000 rupees.” However, they refused to provide the order’s details.
The cake in the shape of the Tamilnadu Secretariat is said to have been donated by Dr. Malathi, the organizer of the Krishnagiri East District Medical Team of the DMK.
