Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited his mother a day before the second phase of the Gujarat elections held on 5, December 2022. And the pictures of him meeting his mother went viral. An image of Narendra Modi, his mother, and Jashodaben is being circulated on social media. Jasodaben is the estranged wife of Narendra Modi. The social media posts claim that long-estranged friends met in the Gujarat elections and that Bharat Jodo Yatra was successful. Such posts can be seen here and here.
What is the truth?
The images of Modi visiting his mother a day before the second phase of the Gujarat elections went viral. But no photos of Jashodaben were seen and moreover it was not reported by media outlets also. With a simple Google search, a set of his pictures captured on that particular day is found. And Jashodaben’s image seems to be missing in the photos listed.
When reverse searching the viral image, the NDTV article dated 4, December 2022 titled ‘Ahead Of Gujarat Polls Phase 2, PM Modi Seeks Blessings Of Mother Heeraben’ is found carrying a few photos of him visiting his mother that day but does not have the viral image in it. The featured image of the article matches the viral image but Jashodaben was not present in it.
The ‘India Today’ article dated 4, December 2022, titled ‘PM Modi takes mother Heeraben’s blessings ahead of Phase 2 of Gujarat polls | In pics’ is found with the original image in it.
Conclusion
It is found from our search that an image of Modi with his mother from his recent visit a day before phase 2 Gujarat elections to seek her blessings is photoshopped with Jashodaben’s image. And this edited image is shared claiming that he met Jashodaben in the Gujarat elections and that Bharat Jodo Yatra was successful.
