Fact Check

The police assault incident at the marina is not recent, as can be seen from the posts posted on Facebook 3 years ago. Investigating the news of the incident with keywords, on August 22, 2017, a news article was published on the Dinakaran website with a photo of Policeman Akilan entitled “An armed guard got stabbing while chasing drunk youths: a sensational incident in the marina”.

Dinakaran media reported that “Marina Police patrolled the beach area in a beach bucky vehicle. Meanwhile, two teenagers were drinking alcohol on the seafloor opposite the Cottage Replacement Board office the night before yesterday. Akilan, an armed guard at the Marina police station, saw this when he was patrolling in a Beach bucky vehicle. Akilan has warned the teenagers not to drink liquor here. But, both of them involved in the dispute. The enraged teenagers attacked the police constable. During the confrontation between the two sides, one of the youths stabbed Akilan with a concealed knife.

Hearing the screams of the guard, the nearby public arrived. But, have seen the incident without helping. However, one of the youths who tried to escape from there was chased by some people there. Following this, the Marina police arrived at the scene and sent the injured constable Akilan to the Royapettah government hospital. Police have taken away the man who was caught and kicked by the public and are being investigated. It was revealed that he was Hari Ram from Anna Nagar and the fugitive was Dinesh. Following this, the police have registered a case against Hari Ram and arrested him under various sections, including attempted murder and obstruction of a civil servant. The police are looking for Dinesh who is hiding. The same news was released by Puthiyathalaimurai on August 21st, 2017.
