The Government of India is trying to bring back to India the diamond trader Nirav Modi who fled from India in connection with the Punjab National Bank scam. However, the case is pending in a London court.

In this context, Aditi Munshi posted on Twitter that Nirav Modi had confessed in a London court that “only 32% of the Rs 13,0000 crore was given to me and the rest was taken by BJP leaders” and it went viral also on Tamil social media.

Fact Check:

While searching for Aditi Munshi’s Twitter page, it is true that she posted that viral tweet but, later that tweet has been deleted. However, that tweet is featured on Google Cache.

Aditi Munshi’s posted on Twitter shared by many Twitter users. But many are sharing without verifying the news with an official source.

Similarly, this is not the first time that post shared that Nirav Modi bribed political parties to scam the money before he fled India.

Another post was also circulated on social media claiming “When Nirav Modi appeared in a London court in 2019, he was given only 32% of the Rs 13,000 crore and the rest of the money was shared to the Congress leaders”

Supporters of both parties have been spreading the same false information in the run-up to the 2019 parliamentary elections. The same information is currently circulating in 2021.

Till today, no Indian or international news outlets have reported that Neerav Modi allegedly that he paid Indian political party leaders during a trial in a London court. For political reasons, party supporters have been spreading false information on social media that Neerav Modi has said so.
