The Ram Temple consecration ceremony was held in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, on 22, January 2024. According to the temple trust, over 7,000 people, including politicians, sports personalities, celebrities, industrialists, and various guests from different fields, got the invitation to visit the temple for the ceremony.

Meanwhile, a 30-second video was widely purported on X (formerly Twitter) that a scuba diver from the Indian Navy went under water and raised a saffron flag with Lord Hanuman. Many are also claiming that on social media. Similar claims shared by right-wing supporters can be seen here, here, here, and here.

What is the Truth?

Firstly, we ran a keyword search to see whether the Indian Navy conducted this event ahead of the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, but we were not able to find anything.

Then additionally, we ran a reverse search image using the keyframes of the viral video, and we found a 50-second video posted by the Press Trust of India (PTI) official X handle with the caption “VIDEO | A scuba diver raises a saffron flag with Lord Hanuman’s image under seawater at the Shivrajpur Beach in Gujarat.”

According to this, we found out that right-wing supporters falsely shared and linked the viral video with Indian Navy divers.

It is found that a video of scuba diver from Gujarat raising a saffron flag under water with Lord Hanuman’s image is falsely shared as Indian navy personnel.
