What is the truth?
When searching for news about Sweden recognizing sex as a sport, we found an article titled “A Sex Championship In Sweden? The Reality Of Viral News” on 5, June 2023 on the NDTV website.
It is reported that there is a Federation of Sex in the Swedish country and its chief Dragan Bractic called for a championship to be organised, highlighting the physical and mental health impact of sex on human beings. However, the federation’s application to become a member of the National Sports Confederation was denied as per the Swedish news outlet, Goterborgs-Posten.
Goteborgs-Posten article dated 26, April 2023 reported that Dragan Bratic who is behind the Swedish Sex Association has run several strip clubs in the Jönköping area and now wants sex to be classified as a sport. In January, an application to become a member of the National Sports Confederation was submitted by him. And the application was denied by the National Sports Federation stating that the application was incomplete.
Another Swedish media TV4 reported that Björn Eriksson, chairman of the national sports federation is clear that sex is not part of their business. He told, “I just hope this nonsense goes away. It will be a unanimous no from us”.
Youturn sent a mail to the Head of Communication and Press, National Sports Confederation, to which we got a response that false information is being spread in some international media about Sweden and Swedish sports.
The mail further clarifies that “The Swedish Sports Confederation has drawn attention to the fact that in some parts of the international media, news is currently being spread that a Sex federation has become member of The Swedish Sports Confederation. It is false information with the aim of smearing Swedish sports and Sweden. There is no Sex Federation that is a member of the Swedish Sports Confederation. All this information is false.”
It is found that the claim that Sweden will be hosting sex tournaments and it has become the first country to officially register sex as a sport is completely false.
