On January 22, 2024, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is scheduled to open. A 22-second video allegedly showing drone lighting was circulated on social media during this time, purporting to be a rehearsal for the Temple’s inauguration. We can see Lord Ram in the lighting with his bow and arrow. Similar posts with related claims can be viewed here, here, here, and here.

What’s the truth?

After performing a Google reverse image search, we found a video that was uploaded on X on November 12, 2023, that looked similar. The post is captioned “May the festival of lights illuminate your life and guide you towards a brighter future. Happy Diwali!.”

When we searched the bio of the X user namely Botlab Dynamics it read as “India’s leading Drone Startup. Designed and built the entire fleet in-house. Focused on Swarm Technology.” This lab is based in New Delhi.

As we searched further, we discovered the same video on Botlab Dynamics’ YouTube channel, which was posted on November 12, 2023, around Diwali.

All of this indicates that the video was uploaded during the Diwali celebration of the previous year and is old.

Thus, we conclude that the drone show depicted in the viral video is not related to the current Ram Mandir inauguration and is an older clip. This video dates back to November 12, 2023, which is Diwali.
