Explanation
Multiple visuals are being shared on social media to ridicule Palestine stating that they are staged and fake. One such post is found sharing a set of three images showing the same girl carried by three different men.
This post claims the girl as a Palestinian girl and further mentions that she is saved by 3 different people from 3 different locations on 3 different days and all locations are 50 KM apart from each other. The post also mentions “Wondering why she keeps travelling so far especially in the conflict zone?” Some of the posts with such a claim can be seen here and here.
What is the truth?
When searching Youturn archives, we found that the same set of images went viral with similar claim in 2018 and was fact-checked by Youturn. The article on the same was published in Tamil and can be viewed here.
The NBC News article dated 28, August 2016 is found carrying one of the images from the viral post. This image is captioned “A Syrian man carries a wounded child in eastern Aleppo after Saturday’s bombing”. The image is credited to ‘Ameer Alhalbi / AFP – Getty Images’. This proves that the image does not belong to the recent Israel war but is from 2016.
Al Jazeera article dated 28, August 2016 is found carrying another image from the viral post. This image is captioned “A man carries a girl who survived double air strikes on Saturday in a rebel-held neighbourhood of Aleppo ”.
This article also carries a news video and at the 0:24 minute timestamp of this video, around four volunteers are seen carrying a child each, and one kid is the same girl seen in the viral video.
This proves that the scene or images are not faked but are real visuals captured during the rescue process in 2016 after bombing in Syria.
Conclusion
It is found that a set of three images of a girl being rescued after bombing in Syria in 2016 is deliberately circulated with the same old false claim that it is staged and that it is recent from Palestine.
