Following this, a video purportedly showing lawyers carrying out a symbolic funeral procession is shared mentioning that the funeral procession of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was taken out by the lawyers of the High Court in Prayagraj.

This video is being shared in a context that it is from a protest of lawyers against the lathi-charge incident by police in Hapur. Some of the posts carrying the video can be seen here and here.
What is the truth?
When searching through the comments section of the viral posts we found that the video is old and is not related to lawyers’ recent protest in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. The X handle of DCP CITY PRAGYARAJ responded to one of the viral posts mentioning that the viral video is old and related to the year 2020. The statement further asks not to spread unconfirmed and misleading news.
With further search, we found a video with matching visuals from the viral video uploaded on Akhand Bharat TV Youtube channel in September 2019. This video is titled ‘Allahabad High Court lawyers get angry, Yogi’s funeral procession taken out’.
The description part is roughly translated as “Advocate who warned of indefinite fast on tribunal issue Under the leadership of Srivastava, thousands of lawyers of Allahabad High Court took out the funeral procession of BJP government and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Ambedkar Square High Court to Subhash Square Civil Lines in the presence of police. After this, in the presence of police, an effigy of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was burnt at Civil Lines intersection and slogans of Yogi Adityanath Murdabad were also raised and all other tribunals including education service should be established in Prayagraj.”
Patrika article reported in September 2019 that in protest against setting up of State Education Service Tribunal in Lucknow, High Court lawyers took out the funeral procession of the state government and performed its last rites. A group of lawyers took out the funeral procession by making an effigy of the state government. The lawyers raised slogans against the state government and demanded that all tribunals including education services be established in Prayagraj, reported Patrika.
