Explanation

Recently, a helicopter carrying pilgrims to Kedarnath burst into flames killing all travelled in it including the pilot. Photos and videos started circulating while posting about Kedarnath incident. A few of the posts with any of the claimed images or video can be seen here, here, here, here and here.

What is the truth?

Claim 1

When this image is reverse searched, it is found that it is a ‘plane crash stock photo’ and is posted in several stock photo websites.

Claim 2

Using reverse image search option, it is found that the picture is from Badrinath helicopter crash in 2017 from India Today article.

Both the above mentioned images are also shared along with real pictures of the incident on social media platforms.

Claim 3

When the keyframes of the video is reverse searched, ‘The Aviationist’ article dated September 5, 2014 is found with a matching image of the visual with the title ‘Video shows Mi-8 helicopter crash during air show in Russia’.

When the keywords from this article are searched, several videos matching the exact viral visual are found. A Youtube channel ‘MsAndronis’ published the full length video of the crash on September 5, 2014.

Conclusion

Not all the images and videos shared mentioning the incident are really from the same incident. The two images and a video fact-checked were old and unrelated ones.
