What is the truth?
When reverse-searching the keyframes of the viral video we found that the video is old and not from West Bengal.
NDTV article dated 29, May 2017 is found carrying the viral video mentioning that 14 men in Uttar Pradesh molested 2 women. It is reported that the date of the incident is unknown but the video became viral in May 2017 after which police arrested 2 of the 14 men. “We have identified the men involved. The main accused has been arrested. We are interrogating him and based on what he says the rest will also be nabbed. We filed an FIR after the videos went viral on social media,” Vipin Tada, Superintendent of Police, Rampur, said.
The article further mentions that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s BJP government that came to power after a thumping majority in the assembly polls in March has been severely criticised for a jump in criminal activities in the state. The same incident is also reported by ‘VTV Gujarati News and Beyond’ Youtube channel in May 2017.
“An FIR has been lodged against 14 persons. Main accused Shahnawaz has been arrested and the probe is on,” principal secretary (home) Arvind Kumar said in Lucknow. It is also mentioned that the accused Shahnawaj, Nawved, Farmaan, Jahane Aalam and Saddam are from Kuwakhera village of Rampur district, reported Times of India.
