A 57-second video purportedly showing a team rescuing women is being shared with the claim that the women are sex slaves rescued by the army from ISIS tents. The post also mentions that the girls are Hindus and are from India and Bangladesh. Some of the posts with such a claim can be seen here and here.

What is the truth?

When reverse-searching the keyframes of the viral videos and searching with relevant keywords we found that the video is old.

A matching visual from the viral video is found posted on SDF website. The article is dated 6, September 2022 and mentions that the operation conducted by the YPJ as part of Operation Humanity & Security 2 liberated four women imprisoned in the Al-Hol camp.

This viral video is also found posted on the SDF PRESS Youtube channel on 6, September 2022. The description part mentions that the Women’s Protection Units published a video documenting the process of liberating four women who were shackled with iron chains bearing signs of brutal torture they had been subjected to, by ISIS supporters, inside one of the tents in al-Hol camp.

With further search, a tweet by ‘U.S.Central Command’ dated 7, September 2022 is found with a statement regarding Syrian Democratic Forces conducting security operations in al-Hol camp. The statement mentions that “Syrian Democratic Forces have been conducting security operations in al-Hol displaced persons camp, resulting in the arrest of dozens of ISIS operatives and the dissolution of a major ISIS facilitation network both within the camp and throughout Syria.

Additionally, the SDF liberated four women in the camp who were found in tunnels, chained and tortured by ISIS supporters on September 5th, 2022.” The same is also seen in the Central Command website.

Fox News reported that in total, approximately 50,000 Syrians and Iraqis lived in tents at the camp, including about 20,000 children. An additional 2,000 women lived in a separate annex of the camp along with 8,000 children. The women in the second group were from 57 different countries and are believed to be supporters of the terror group IS.

Conclusion

It is found that the viral video is a security operation where women were liberated from torture by ISIS supporters. But the women’s religion or country is nowhere mentioned in the links that we referred to.
