What is the truth?
When searching for Nirmala Sitaraman’s daughter’s wedding we found multiple media outlets reporting about it with images and videos. And none of the visuals are found matching with the viral image.
India Today article is found carrying a video from the wedding ceremony. It is reported “Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s daughter Parakala Vangamayi tied the knot with Pratik Doshi on June 7 in a private ceremony in Karnataka’s Bengaluru. The wedding ceremonies were held at a private hotel near Jayanagar.” But the bride and groom seen in the video are different from the ones seen in the viral image.

The video of Nirmala Sitaraman’s daughter is also seen tweeted by NDTV. This proves to us that the viral image is not related to Nirmala Sitaraman’s daughter’s wedding ceremony.
When searching for the viral image we found a set of images posted on Sakal Facebook page. The viral image is also seen among the other photos. It is mentioned that the photos are from India’s famous fast bowler Krishna’s marriage.
With further search, we found a similar photo on the Inside Sport website in an article titled “Prasidh Krishna marries Rachana in proper South Indian style, CHECK Heartwarming Pics”.
And it is mentioned in the viral posts that the bride is seated on the priest’s lap which is untrue as seating the bride on her father’s lap during her marriage is a tradition.

It is found that a photo from Cricketer Krishna’s marriage is falsely shared as Nirmala Sitaraman’s daughter’s wedding. Further, it is to be noted that the bride was seated on her father’s lap and not on the priest’s lap. It is a tradition to make the bride sit on her father’s lap during her marriage.
