The first Iftar party in independent India was given by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1947, in which his cabinet is visible. But Sardar Patel had opposed it saying that it is dangerous for the country to start this wrong tradition, whereas a few months back we had not organized any party on Holi, Diwali.

What is the truth?
When reverse-searching the viral image we found a Facebook page named ‘Jay Bhim’ in Hindi posted the viral image on its page on 29, October 2020 with the caption “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar during dinner on the occasion of C. RajaGopalachari’s appointment as India’s Governor General. (June 1948)”.
The same photo is found on the Alamy website with the caption in Marathi as “Marathi: Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad and other Ministers present at Vallabhbhai Patel’s ministerial invitation to celebrate Chakraborty Rajagopalchari becoming India’s first Governor General. June 1948;”
Another photograph taken on the same occasion is found on the ‘zoroastrians’ website mentioning it as Nehru’s cabinet seen at lunch hosted by Sardar Patel after C. Rajagopalachari became the Governer-General in 1948. The names of people in the photograph are also listed on the webpage.

Conclusion
It is found that the viral image is not of first iftar party hosted by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1947 but was hosted by Sardar Patel after C. Rajagopalachari became the Governer-General in 1948.
