Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in an event at Kartavya Path on October 31, 2023, signifying the conclusion of the ‘Meri Mati-Mera Desh’ campaign. In the course of the ceremony, Modi offered the soil collected from diverse regions of the country into the Amrit Kalash. Modi also applied a ’tilak’ to his forehead using the same soil. The event was attended by Union ministers Amit Shah, G. Kishan Reddy, and Meenakashi Lekhi as well.
Recently, a 19-second viral video is purporting on X (formerly Twitter) with the captions “what drama it is”. In this video, we can see PM Narendra Modi trying to pour something from the pot, but the pot is empty, and he didn’t pour anything into the big pot. He gave back the small pot to Union Minister Anurag Thakur, and he kept the pot back on the table.
The same viral video was shared by social media users with different claims with quotes such as “It’s empty just like BJP politics!” “This video sums up Modi regime, only drama, no worthy action” and “Only blind devotees can see the water falling from the pot; if you are not able to see it, then it means you are not a blind devotee of Modi ji. Their development is also like this backwater” and many others.
What is the truth?
We ran a reverse search image, and we found the full and original video posted on the Narendra Modi official YouTube channel on October 31, 2023, with the caption “Prime Minister Narendra Modi applied a teeka to his forehead with soil during the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh Amrit Kalash Yatra’ in Delhi. The soil has been brought from all over the country and will be kept at the Amrit Vatika in the National Capital.”.
In this original video, on the timestamp of 00:32, we can see PM Modi offering the soil to Amrit Kalash, and then he applied a tilak to his forehead with soil. Another video is also found on Narendra Modi Youtube channel with the description clarifying that he poured soil in the Amrit Kalash and put soil teeka on his forehead paying tribute to Indian soil.
So this clarifies that the viral video was clipped, edited and falsely shared by social media users.
The viral video of PM Modi pouring nothing from the pot is edited, but actually, he offered the soil to Amrit Kalash from the pot.
