Priyanka Gandhi of the Congress party went to the house of a young girl who was a victim of a gang rape in Hathras to offer her condolences.
On October 4, 2020, on the news website ABPlive mentioned in their news that “Priyanka Gandhi hugged a kin of the grieving family, providing both emotional as well as moral support…”
“The woman who hugged by Priyanka Gandhi is no one else my mother. There are many rumours about this photo, but they are not true. The woman, identified as Naxal Bobby, is a doctor from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He came to our house on October 4 after learning about the incident and stayed at our house before leaving for Jabalpur,” one of the rape victim’s brothers told the BoomLive website. Rajkumari Bansal, a Jabalpur girl who came to the house of a Hathras teenager, has been circulating on social media as “Naxal” and “Naxal Bobby”. Right-wing support website opindia has published an article referring to the Jabalpur woman as a Naxal without knowing her background. Based on this, they are spreading in Tamil.
Rajkumari Bansal has told the media that the woman went home of Hathras rape victim after learning that she was being referred to as a Naxal on the internet. In the October 11 Times of India report,
A 40-year-old forensic expert from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, who has been accused by some media of being a “Naxalite” and a “relative” of the Hathras victim’s family, and she said that she has never hid his identity. Dr Rajkumari Bansal, an assistant professor at the Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur, said she had left her 10-year-old son and husband to support the Hathras rape victim’s family in person.
Also, I left on October 3rd and went to see the Hathras family the next afternoon. I booked a ticket back to Jabalpur on October 5, but the family insisted me stay there for two more days. Then, on October 6, I returned to my home town,” said Bansal.
Bansal has complained to the cyber cell that his phone is being monitored and that legal action will be taken against those who spread rumours of “Naxal” links.

Rajkumari Bansal says that she went Hathras on October 4, while Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi went Hathras on October 3. “Priyanka Gandhi has hugged her dead rape victim’s mother only” one of the rape victim’s brothers told the BoomLive website. Rajkumari Bansal has said that she will take legal action against those who spread rumours about her as a Naxal.
