Explanation

A photo of a person brandishing a gun from a vehicle is circulated in the context that he belongs to PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) and is ridiculed that PTI is a law-abiding party. Some of the posts with such a claim can be seen here and here.

What is the truth?

When reverse-searching the image we found that the image is photoshopped. A tweet dated 8, March 2023 is found posted by ‘Hassan’ with two images, one with the person holding a gun and the other without a gun.

It is mentioned that “Paid touts of gov are spreading fake/edited picture of PTI worker with gun, I have attached the real picture which is from 2014 below, and the article link where they got the picture from. Kindly spread the word”. A link to an article that has the original image is also mentioned in the tweet.


The eNCA article dated 15, August 2014 titled “Imran Khan’s PTI attacked on Islamabad march” is found carrying the original version of the viral image.

The image is captioned “Supporters of Pakistani cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or Movement for Justice arrive in Islamabad to take part in Azadi (Freedom) march on August 15, 2014”.

Conclusion

It is found that a photoshopped image is shared mentioning that PTI is a law-abiding party.
