Explanation

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra had entered Haryana and is slated to enter Delhi on December 24 after which the Yatra is said to take a 9-day break coinciding with Christmas and New Year. BJP’s IT Wing Chief Amit Malviya had shared a video on Twitter in which he claimed that Former Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh had tied the shoelace of Rahul Gandhi and attacked Rahul Gandhi to be “the arrogant entitled brat.”

Republic TV also had reported it in which Amit Malviya was interviewed over phone to weigh in on the issue.

What’s the truth?

When we did a keyword search, we found some tweets which clarified that Jitendra Singh’s shoelace was untied which can be seen in the photos taken during the yatra. Moments after the video was taken, Jitendra Singh supposedly bent down to tie his own shoelace.

Jitendra Singh also clarified the same in his tweet where he said Amit Malviya’s claim is a complete lie and defamatory. He also said in his tweet, “The fact is that after being pointed out by Rahul ji upon my request he paused briefly so that I could tie my own shoelaces. Delete the tweet and apologize to RG or face legal action.”

Congress’ social media and Digital Platforms Chairperson Supriya Shrinate had shared an image of the shoe worn by Rahul Gandhi was laceless and demanded that Prime Minister Modi, BJP President JP Nadda and Amit Malviya should apologize for Amit Malviya’s claim.

We also found a video on Twitter which was taken from the side when Rahul Gandhi’s shoelace was alleged to be tied by Jitendra Singh Alwar. In the video, we can clearly see that Jitendra Singh was bending down to tie his own shoelace.

It is clear from the video that Jitendra Singh Alwar was tying his own shoelace and the right-wing ecosystem along with BJP members claim that Rahul Gandhi’s shoelace was tied by Jitendra Singh is false.

Jitendra Singh Alwar tying his own shoelace.

Conclusion

In our search, we find that Amit Malviya’s claim to be totally false as former Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh Alwar was tying his own shoelace and not Rahul Gandhi’s as claimed by Amit Malviya and reported by Republic TV.
