In this case, many people from the right-wing supporters are spreading the above photo of him wearing a badge as 420 when he met the workers. This same image was spread by many social media users with similar claims which can be seen here, here, and here. Come, let’s check the authenticity of this viral claim.
What’s the truth?
When we started our research with the viral image using the Google lens, we found out that the widely spread claim on social media is false. Interestingly, we were taken to the official X page of the Congress party published on the 21st of September we could see the photographs taken when Rahul Gandhi met the heavy lifting workers. There are totally four images along with the viral image too. When we had a closer look, we found that the widely shared image on social media with the claim of Rahul Gandhi wearing the number 420 as a badge is false rather it’s seen as ‘756’ on it.
Congress member Zeenat Shabrin posted another picture of Rahul Gandhi in uniform among heavy lifting workers on her Instagram page. Moreover, the number ‘756’ is also clearly visible on the badge worn on his arm.
The same picture has also been posted on the Instagram page of the Andhra Youth Congress organization.
From the above evidence, it can be confirmed that the number on the badge on Rahul Gandhi’s arm has been fake and edited to 420 whereas in reality, it was ‘756’.
Conclusion:
In our research, a photo circulating with the number 420 on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s arm while meeting the heavy lifting laborers is fake and edited. However, the real badge number is seen as ‘756’.
