What is the truth?

When searching with the keywords ‘blood red sky’, and ‘China’, the ‘Daily Star’ article dated 8, May 2022 with the title ‘Blood red sky blankets city near Shanghai sparking Armageddon fear’ is found carrying the viral video. It is mentioned that the ‘red sky’ phenomenon was seen for hours on 7, May 2022. It occurred in Zhoushan and the local meteorological bureau clarified that it was not anything supernatural and experts explained it was not a sign of a bad omen.

The ‘Global Times’ reported on 8, May 2022 that the red sky was caused due to the refraction and scattering of lights from the ship. “When weather conditions are good, more water in the atmosphere forms aerosols which refract and scatter the light of fishing boats and create the red sky seen by the public,” said the staff of the meteorological bureau.

A Youtube channel ‘Evolution Crisis’ published the full-length video of the viral clip on 8, May 2022. It can be seen that only a particular part of the sky turned red and not the entire sky.

On 11, May 2022 CGTN reported that a local fishing boat was found parked right where the phenomenon had been seen and local fishermen and weather experts clarified that it was due to the refraction of red fishing lights.
