Right-wing members are spreading a video on social media with the claim that “In Peshawar Pakistan, Hindu minorities, including children, are being forcibly converted to Islam through electric shock and extreme torture. The matter has come to the fore. How pathetic is the condition of Hindus with whom there is no international media or human rights organization“. We found that the claim was shared on Facebook and Reddit as well.
What is the truth?
When reverse-searching the keyframes of the viral videos and searching with relevant keywords we found that the video is old.
The International News article dated 2020, August 10 reported that a fake faith healer was arrested on the charges of torturing the people brought to him in the limits of Sarband Police Station. An official said that Pir Mohammadullah was detained by police after he was found torturing and electrocuting a young man in a video. The official said the accused was arrested in a raid.
With further search, we found videos of him with similar activities on social media. According to his Facebook profile, Mohammad Ullah identifies himself as a “Faith healer” and also we found several videos of alleged exorcism on his Instagram profile too. He also has a YouTube channel with over 80k subscribers.
A tweet by Capital City Police Peshawar dated 09, August 2020 is found with Mohammad Ullah’s picture with the caption, “Arrested for extracting children’s jinn by applying electricity After the fake Pir video went viral on social media, Peshawar police arrested the fake Pir Muhammad Allah son of Qudratullah while conducting an operation in Achini Bala area. An FIR has been registered and further investigation has been started.”

Conclusion:
After examination, it has come to know that the viral video on social media is not related to any religious conversion. The man seen torturing the Muslim child is Haji Muhammad Ullah, a self-proclaimed exorcist from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan and has been arrested multiple times for such acts.
