He was born in Southampton in 1980 to African born Hindu parents who migrated to the UK in 1966. Since he is a practicing Hindu and the first Hindu Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, there have been several celebrations amongst Hindu communities all over the world, including India where majority of the population are Hindus. After the resignation of Liz Truss, the Conservative Party had elected Rishi Sunak as the leader of the party unopposed and had been proposed as the next Prime Minister. Rishi visited the Bhaktivedanta Manor (ISCKON temple) on 18th August 2022, two months earlier than his appointment as the Prime Minister of the UK and the resignation of Liz Truss, the predecessor of Rishi Sunak.

Rishi Sunak has updated in his twitter profile about his visit to the temple.

The same had been posted on Bhaktivedanta Manor’s facebook page as well.

However, the website of the temple also has posted an article on Rishi Sunak’s visit to the temple on 20th October 2022.

Many in social media are claiming that Rishi Sunak visited the ISCKON temple before swear-in ceremony or after having been elected as the PM of UK which is untrue as the visit happened two months earlier.
