Explanation
A picture of Aravana Payasam produced by an Arabic company is viral and has gained condemnation on social media claiming that Travancore Devaswom Board has given the rights of manufacturing Aravana Payasam (provided as offerings to devotees of Sabarimala) to Al Zahaa, a sister concern of Ajman & Co, UAE.
What is the Truth?
The traditional Prasadhams offered in the Sabarimala temple is listed on the Kerala government website. It is mentioned that the price of Aravana Prasadham is Rs.80. It is mentioned on the India Post website along with a picture that Sabarimala temple offerings can be sent through the post.
The offering that can be sent through India Post has Lord Ayyapan’s picture and words ‘Aravana Prasadham’ printed on the container. But the viral picture does not have Ayyapan’s picture and has the words ‘Aravana Payasam’ on the container.
Al Zahaa company mentioned in the viral picture is based from Ajman from UAE and was incorporated in 2020. A lady from Kerala has posted a video on YouTube in October 2021 saying that she is tasting Aravana Payasam manufactured by Al Zahaa company in Dubai.
P.S.Prakash, Travancore Devaswom Board Commissioner, “The claim is fake. Prasadham is being prepared on behalf of the temple, and not by any of the company or association”, reported ‘The Quint’ regarding this issue.
Conclusion
It is fake that the Islamic company Al Zahaa from UAE is given the rights to manufacture Sabarimala temple’s Aravana Prasadha. Travancore Devaswom Board too has denied it. Aravana Payasam manufactured by UAE’s Al Zahaa is shared with misinformation.
