The above claim shared by the news outlet Times Now on 7 October 2023, stated that ‘Iran parliament chants ‘Death to Israel and America’ amid the ongoing Hamas attack along with an image which consists of a group of people. This same news was also published as an article on their website with the same heading.

Also, this same message that many social media users shared can be seen here,here, here, here, and here. Some of these claims are even shared by some blue tick users. Come let’s check the authenticity of this viral claim.
What’s the truth?
When we started our research using the simple Google reverse image process, it led us to a YouTube video uploaded on the channel namely ‘USA Today’ on 5 January 2020 titled as “Iran: Parliament members chant ‘death to America’ | USA TODAY.” According to the video’s description box, ‘Iranian parliament members chant “death to America” after Qasem Soleimani’s death. RELATED: Iranian military leader killed by US airstrike in Baghdad. Members of the 290-seat Iranian parliament raise a fist and chant “death to America” to protest the death of Qasem Soleimani.
This clearly proves that the video is old and from 2020 and not a recent one. Moreover, we also got another YouTube video uploaded from CNN with a title ‘Lawmakers chant ‘death to America’ in Iranian parliament.’ According to the video’s description box they have clearly mentioned that the military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader said that his country’s response to the killing by the United States of one its most influential commanders will certainly be a military response “against military sites.” In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Frederik Pleitgen in Tehran, Hossein Dehghan, the military adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, said: “The response for sure will be military and against military sites.”
This proves that the video is old and a response by the Iranian parliament members for kiling their Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani. This video has nothing to do with the current war scenario between the Israel and Palestine.
This same piece of news was also covered by the ‘NewYork Post’ with a title “Iran lawmakers chant ‘Death to America’ in parliament over Qassem Soleimani killing” on 5 January 2020.

Therefore we conclude that the spread video is old and from 2020 when Iranian parliament members protested and chanted the slogans of ‘Death to Israel and America’ against the airstrike and killing of the military leader Qasem Soleimani.
