What is the truth?
Silly Souls Cafe and Bar in Assagao, Goa has created a controversy after opposition parties alleged that it was owned by Union BJP minister Smriti Irani’s daughter Zoish Irani and was running an illegal bar. Amidst the controversy, a video also went viral showing that the word “bar” was hidden on the name board of the restaurant.
Meanwhile, a menu card is being circulated as Zoish Irani’s Silly Souls Cafe restaurant’s, which claims to be selling a dish called Beef Tongue.
When we searched for the menu card going viral, we found it to be the menu card of the Upper Deck, Radisson Blu Resort in Goa. The menu card is featured on the websites of Zomato and Easy Diner. The restaurant is located in Cavelosim, 60 km from Assagao where Silly Souls Cafe is located.
Silly Souls Cafe and Bar has no mention of beef on its menu, according to recent menus on websites Zomato and EasyDiner.
The controversy erupted after it was revealed that the owner of Silly Souls Cafe and Bar in Goa had tried to renew the restaurant’s liquor license using the deceased’s name. Subsequently, Minister Smriti Irani also said her daughter did not run an illegal bar and that she is only 18 and has denied allegations that she is studying in a college.
But Kunal Vijaykar started the conversation by introducing Zoish Irani, daughter of Smriti Irani, as the owner of the restaurant, before tasting the food at Silly Souls Cafe and Bar. On his Instagram page, he mentions that pork curry is available there.
In our search, the menu card circulating that BJP minister Smriti Irani’s daughter Zoish Irani’s Silly Souls Cafe and Bar restaurant was selling beef was incorrect. It can be known as the menu card of Upper Deck, Radisson Blu Resort.
