Explanation

The pills were found in the warehouse that was used by I.S terrorists to stay in Sri Lanka. In 2018, a conflict was raised based on the rumour that Muslim hotel is using contraceptives.

What are the tablets that Srilankan police have seized? Read further to know the incident based on the claim that contraceptives are found in Muslim hotels.

What is the Truth?

A claim that investigations conducted after the attacks carried out by the terrorist organisations in Sri Lanka confirmed the use of contraceptives in a hotel run by Muslims, is being shared on WhatsApp and other social media platforms. The claim also says that the same method is being implemented in Tamil Nadu hotels.

I.S Destructive Mob

It was in the news of Srilankan Tamil media that the Srilankan Task Force has seized contraceptive pills, drugs and tablets that stimulate sexual desire from the warehouse used by the I.S destructive mob. Several Tamil media too have published this news.

However, an article saying that the seized tables are not contraceptives can also be seen.

“The pills in possession are Misoprostol and Mifepristone. These two types of pills are typically used together to terminate early pregnancies. Misoprostol is used to prevent and treat stomach ulcers, start labour and treat postpartum bleeding due to poor contraction of the uterus. These pills do not cause infertility in women”, reported the article.

This says that the tablets seized do not cause infertility and were not seized from the Muslims shop.

Muslim Hotel

In 2018, in Ambara, Sri Lanka, a conflict between Muslims and Sinhalese was developed based on the rumour that the biryani in their shops is laced with contraceptives. The hotel was demolished and was set on fire.

This lead to conflicts across the country after a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms. But Sri Lanka’s best medical team has confirmed that it was starch and no contraceptives were found in the Muslim hotel. Additionally, they said there is no scientific evidence to say that the ingredient will make one impotent.

Hatred was created by merging two different news and photographs. Now, this has been extended to Tamil Nadu. It is a baseless rumour on Muslims hotel in Sri Lanka.
