Former Sri Lankan bowler Sooraj Randiv, who played in the 2011 Cricket World Cup, is currently working as a bus driver in Melbourne, Australia. The news that cricketer Suraj Randiv is working as a bus driver is going viral in India.
Apart from Suraj Randiv, Chinthaka Jayasinghe and Waddington Mwayenga, who was part of the Zimbabwe cricket team, are doing the same. All three work for a French company called Transitive.
All three are playing at a local cricket club. However, they are forced to take a different route as a bus driver for their livelihood in Australia.
Suraj Randiv was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad for the Indian Premier League in 2011-2012. Since then, he has been part of the Sri Lanka squad for the 2016 series against England.
In an interview with 9 News Australia, Randiv said, “Australia Cricket has asked for and assisted the Australian national team in Test training during the recent Border-Gavaskar Cup in Australia.”
