What’s the truth?

We started our analysis with a relevant keyword search on Google which led us to the same video on YouTube dated back to 2017.

The video was posted by the Gujarat Congress with the caption “Navsarjan Janadesh Mahasammelan at Gandhinagar” on October 27, 2017. This video is a longer version which runs around 1 hour and 29 minutes. We watched the whole video and found that the viral portion comes around the timestamp of 33:02. We hear Thakor say “Rahul Gandhi,” and then ask the assembly to recite “Zindabad.” A portion of the audience responds, and it’s possible to hear them say Zindabad rather than Modi-Modi. Also, he goes on to repeat this 2-3 times and we can clearly hear the Zindabad in support of Rahul Gandhi.

When we researched further we got the same video published by the FWF India News on its YouTube handle. This video is posted with the title, “Alpesh Thakor’s powerful speech, Modi’s chair shaken from Gujarat.” This video is also lengthy with around 25 minutes and 50 seconds. While watching the video we learned that the viral portion comes at the timestamp of 23: 20. Here also, Thakor tells the crowd that he will say “Rahul Gandhi” and ask them to chant ‘Zindabad’. We also hear the crowd chanting ‘Zindabad’ as asked by Alpesh Thakor.

All this information clarifies that the viral video is edited and shared with false narratives on social media to defame Rahul Gandhi and Congress.

Conclusion:

Therefore the viral claim stating that the crowd insulted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by saying Modi Zindabad in a public gathering is false and modified video. In reality, the crowd says ‘Zindabad’ in support of Rahul, and this viral video is from 2017.
