The 1-minute 32-second video shows a man walking on a street with his many supporters. We also notice that many people hold a green flag while marching with their leader. This post is shared with a claim stating, “Congress Candidate K. Muraleedharan campaigning in a certain part of his Thrissur constituency in Kerala with a Pakistan flag.” The user went on to add, “Is this the ‘Bharat Jodo’ ideology of Rahul Gandhi that flows in Congress?” One similar claim post can be seen here.

What’s the truth?

After beginning our investigation with a pertinent keyword search and the viral video’s keyframes, we discovered that  a Facebook post with an identical video dated April 2019.

“In Vadakara, Kolarajan will go to jail and Muralidharan to Parliament- K Muralidharan’s campaign youth,” reads the video’s caption. Furthermore, the fact that this post was shared in April 2019 indicates that it is outdated and unrelated to Rahul Gandhi’s Jodo Yatra.

Moreover, upon viewing the entire video, we noticed that the flag in the viral video bears no resemblance to the flag of Pakistan.

Using the keyframes, we performed a reverse image process. We discovered that contrary to the viral claim, the flag belongs to the Indian Muslim League and not Pakistan. If you look closely, you won’t find any white space like in the Pakistani flag.

This clarifies that the viral video doesn’t show the Pakistan flag.
