What’s the truth?
Using a relevant keyword search, such as “dead girl lying half-naked in Agra,” we began our investigation. We discovered an article on Hindustan Times and The Print covering the incident. It is reported that people who went to Lakhdhara Masjid in Agra identified the murder on May 19 when they went for prayers. The victim is identified as a woman who is in-charge of keeping the mosque clean. Police highlighted that she had a quarrel with another woman over cleanliness duties at the mosque before a month. No arrests were made in this case and interrogation is being done based on the CCTV footage that the police acquired from around the mosque.
With further search, we found a couple of tweets from the Agra Police Commissionerate. According to a tweet of Police posted on May 28, “The deceased woman found in the mosque under Tajganj police station area is a Muslim. Analysis and scientific evidence have not confirmed the rape of the deceased. False and misleading facts have been presented in the tweet. Please do not spread rumors by posting any such misleading posts without knowing the true facts, which may affect peace/law and order in the society, otherwise, legal action will be taken against you. 04 police teams have been formed for an early investigation of the incident. The successful unveiling of the event will be done soon.”

Further investigation revealed another tweet from the police dated May 29, 2024. This post read “An FIR was immediately registered at Tajganj police station in connection with the incident that occurred on 19.05.2024. Investigation and scientific evidence have not confirmed the rape of the deceased. 04 teams have been formed to uncover the incident quickly. The incident will be successfully uncovered soon.”

The incident is real, as all of this material makes clear, however, the girl who was killed is not Hindu, and the authorities have mentioned that the person is from a Muslim community.

We so conclude that the widely circulated photo, which purports to show a dead Hindu girl lying in blood inside an Agra mosque, is false and misleading. The authorities have refuted the idea that the girl is Hindu, despite what the widely shared narrative suggests, and said that the girl who is lying dead is from a Muslim neighborhood.
They said that an FIR has been filed and all the information will be made public shortly. Additionally, they requested that people abstain from disseminating inaccurate and deceptive content on social media.
