A video is being circulated on social media where army jawans, police team, railway personnel and locals pushed the train as it stopped halfway and had to be pushed manually to re-start. Media like CN NEWS (Complete Network News), News24, India TV and Kumudam Tamil Reporter also shared the video with the same information.

What is the truth?

When reverse-searching the keyframes of the viral video and searching with relevant keywords we found that the video was taken during the train fire accident in Telangana.

We further searched and the results led us to the tweet by Amitabh Sharma, the Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Railways (Spokesperson Railways) dated 10, July 2023 regarding this incident. It states “This relates to Train No 12703 (HWH-SC) fire incident on 7th July 2023. News of a fire incident is being used in a sensational & irresponsible manner.

Further, “Six coaches of the Falaknuma Express caught fire on Friday morning between the Pagidipalli and Bommaipalli villages in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana. Close to 300 passengers on board were safely evacuated by the rescue teams and were sent home in buses. Out of 18 coaches, 11 were detached and taken away safely.

It took 54,000 litres of water, which was used with 22 hoses and 12 tanks of 4,500 litres capacity each, to douse the flames during the firefighting operation. Officials opined that a suspected short circuit is said to be the reason behind the incident and an investigation will be done to ascertain the same.” reported The Hindu.

We also found another tweet by DGP TELANGANA POLICE dated 7th July 2023 regarding this incident. It states “All passengers are safely evacuated and shifted to buses after a fire broke out in the Falaknuma Express near Bhongir rural PS limits. Police, Fire Dept, and Railways are working in coordination. So far, no fatalities have been reported. Out of 18 coaches, 11 are detached and taken away safely”.
