A mask-wearing woman in a saree is seen inside a lift in the one-minute and fourteen-second video. As the lift reaches the floor, we see another woman getting inside. The saree-wearing woman abruptly covers the other lady’s nose and face with a handkerchief as the lift moves and carefully lowers her to the floor. Afterward, she swiftly takes the chain and other valuables from the unconscious woman before leaving.

What’s the truth?

Our analysis of the video containing all of the viral keyframes directed us to the YouTube channel “EYE SPOT.” The video was titled “THIS WAS UNEXPECTED! BE CAREFUL! Social Awareness Video By EYE SPOT.”

This YouTube video was uploaded on August 14, 2022, and it was a little long—about 3 minutes and 43 seconds. Here, the viral section of the video begins at 2 minutes and 41 seconds into the playback.

As we watch the entire video, we see that at first, the woman and another man were using the lift together. In all of this, the woman remained silent. After the man exits and the lift ascends once more, we see a second woman enter carrying her luggage. Now, the saree-clad woman presses and covers the other woman’s face with a piece of cloth before grabbing the valuables and running off. This is where the video ends.

When we looked at the channel’s home page, we saw that there are more such videos with the caption “social awareness”.

This indicates beyond a shadow of a doubt that the viral video is not a real incident.

In summary, the widely shared video depicting a woman stealing valuables from another woman while rendering her unconscious appears to have been staged.

All of their YouTube videos have social awareness titles, which suggests that the content is scripted and meant to raise awareness.
