I sincerely apologize to everyone in Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Punjab, and Kolkata. I’m sorry about what happened to me. It happened to me today, and it will happen to you tomorrow.” A similar post carrying this video can be seen here.

What’s the truth?

We began our study by searching for pertinent keywords on Google and used the keyframes from the viral video. Following this, we found the identical video that was posted on May 13, 2024, on X with the caption, “Convoy of Madhavi Latha attacked by AIMIM leaders in Hyderabad.. shame on them, cowards know they are going to lose this time.”

We increased the intensity of our search using terms like “Madhavi Latha attacked in Hyderabad” after taking a cue from the above video. This directed us to a May 16, 2024, Times of India article.

The report was titled, “Huge rigging in Hyderabad seat, BJP may seek repolling: Madhavi Latha.”

As per the article, Madhavi Latha claims “Many people tried to attack me on polling day when I tried to stop and question the rigging.”
Also, the article added that a case was filed for abusive language against Latha. Moreover, it says, “33-year-old man files complaint with police against AIMIM leader Yasar Arafat. He accused Arafat of using abusive language towards BJP candidate Madhavi Latha. Arafat allegedly attempted to block Hyderabad BJP candidate convoy on Election Day.”

The aforementioned details make it quite clear that the widely shared video featuring BJP candidate Madhavi Latha was altered to include phony audio and was spread on social media using false narratives. In actuality, she claims that the AIMIM officials assaulted her in the original audio.

Conclusion:
