In the 2 minute 19 second viral video we see a woman dancing joyfully. She was seen wearing a powder pink saree, draped in a North Indian style. This post was shared with a claim stating that “Dance performance by Sambalpur collector Mrs. Ananya Das (IAS).” You can view related posts with similar claims here, here, here, and here.

What’s the truth?

We started our analysis with a keyword search, which led us to the tweet posted by the Sambalpur collector, Ananya Das dispelling the rumors.

According to the X post shared with the claimed video, she has said “Truly a good performance- sadly not mine.”

When we searched further we came across a YouTube channel namely, Mradula Mahajan. Here we saw the same viral video uploaded on January 8, 2024, with the title, “Mere Ghar Ram easy dance Choreography.”

While looking at her channel, she mentioned that she “Love Dancing, Singing, Acting & Cooking.”

We have also attached a comparison image of the Sambalpur collector Ananya Das and the YouTuber Mradula Mahajan for the reader’s reference below.

All this confirms and clarifies that the viral video doesn’t show the dancing performance of Sambalpur Collector Ananya Das. Also, she has refuted the rumors with an X post.


Thus, we conclude that the viral video claiming to show dance performance by Sambalpur collector Mrs Ananya Das is false and misleading. In reality, the woman dancing in the video is a YouTuber namely Mradula Mahajan.
