What’s the truth?

We began our investigation on Google using pertinent keywords such as “ESORAL” along with the keyframes of the viral video on Google. This led us to a Pakistan-based YouTube channel namely ‘Spacial Health.’

Interestingly, near the English name of the tablets, we were able to see Urdu lettering. We also observed the blue-green “City Pharmaceutical Laboratories (CP)” logo on the tablet strip.

With the help of this hint, we were able to expand our search and discover that the Company of City Pharmaceutical Laboratories is situated in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

Moreover, we have also attached the products ESORAL 20 mg and ESORAL 40 mg from the City Pharmaceuticals website for the reader’s reference below.

This confirms that this first part of the video is from Karachi, Pakistan, and not India.

Subsequently, we employed the keyframes from the widely shared video to locate the second segment in which we notice the light cream-colored tablets crack open to reveal iron nails. The description box for this February 2021 YouTube short video says, “FirstNigeriaTV: Man finds nails inside capsule drug for consumption.”

Following that, we translated the text contained in the packet as an “Enterofuril” capsule using Google Lens.

By using Google, we were able to discover that the company making these pills is Bosnalijek, which is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s biggest pharmaceutical producer. This indicates that India is not where these pills are manufactured either.

Both the video clips show us only one side of the capsule before cracking it open and not the other side. The nails could have been kept hidden in the clips. However, we could not ascertain the veracity of these clips. But it is clear that the two tablets seen in the video are not manufactured in India, despite what the widely shared allegation purports.

It has become a routine to share anything and everything as jihad on social media like land jihad, love jihad and now medicine jihad. All of this shows pure hatred towards one specific community and holds no truth in it. YouTurn fact-checked multiple such claims and the same can be read here.

Conclusion:

So, we conclude that the widely shared video, which purports to show the rise of a new jihad by creating capsules containing iron nails, is not from India. That’s actually a combination of two videos. Part one features capsules from Pakistan, while Part two has creations from Bosnia.
