VCK leader Thirumavalavan has been said to be claimed as that he was condemned and posting a screenshot on social media with a photo of himself with MK Stalin, saying, “After the DMK’s victory, we will demolish Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu and build Buddhist monasteries.”
Fact Check:
There is no date or time in the screenshot which is shared as a tweet posted by Thirumavalavan. Examining his Twitter page, no such post was featured. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections. Nothing like that happened.
A member of the VCK said, “This fake edited tweet is being spread on screenshots on social media. They are creating misconceptions about our party at election time. Thirumavalavan did not post any such post on their Twitter page. ”
When asked if Thirumavalavan was talking about Shiva temples and Buddhist monasteries, he shared a video in 2019 of the Tamil Nadu BJP and others talking about the unification of Shiva temples and Buddhist temples while talking about the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya.

If you look at it like that, there were Buddhist monasteries everywhere where there are Shiva temples and Perumal temples today. You have demolished Buddhist temples and built Shiva temples. You are building Perumal temples. So, we have to demolish it all and build Buddhist monasteries in those places. I say for your argument.

The full video of Thirumavalavan talking about temples has been released on Thandhi TV in December 2017. It is understandable that they are currently creating a fake tweet post based on what they have said “demolish Shiva temples and build Buddhist monasteries” for the argument that the Ayodhya Ram temple issue.
