Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s talk of abolishing Sanatana Dharma drew protests from BJP and Hindu organizations across the country. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh preacher created a stir when he said that he would reward 10 crores on Udayanidhi’s head.

In this case, a card of Times Now news that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is going to take action against Minister Udayanidhi Stalin’s Sanatana speech is being spread virally by the BJP. The same post is shared by many users with similar claims that can be seen here, here, and here.

What’s the truth?

When we started our research, we found that the Tamil Nadu, Vice President BJP member Selvakumar, who shared the viral news from Times Now has also posted another picture claiming to have taken the news from Times Now channel’s YouTube page.

But, while searching on Times Now Live Channel, with the title “Udhayanidhi Stalin Row News Live: Sanatan Slandering Showdown| Supreme court” is not featured.

On further search, Times Now unintentionally published a false report on their YouTube channel, stating “The Chief Justice of India had taken suo moto action against Udayanidhi Stalin.” The video has now been taken down. We deeply regret the error and apologize for the same” they explained.

While we searched for cases against Udhayanidhi’s speech, a news has appeared on Live Law website that a lawyer has filed a case against him in the Bihar court.

Similarly, it has been reported in The Hindu that 262 people including former judges and retired government officials have written a letter to Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud asking him to file a case against Udayanidhi.

Times Now has spread the wrong news that the Chief Justice himself is going to take action regarding the letter written to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court asking him to initiate an inquiry against Udhayanidhi’s speech.

Conclusion:

In our research, Times Now’s report that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is taking action against Udhayanidhi is false. It is known that they have already deleted the post and apologized.
