Explanation

Indu Makkal Katchi has posted on its Twitter page the old and new driving license cards issued in Tamil Nadu stating that the DMK government is issuing all the government identity cards right from driving license with ‘Union of India’ printed on it and is implementing separatism.

What is the truth?

“Indian Driving License (Tamil Nadu)” was mentioned in the old driving license issued in Tamil Nadu 10 years ago. The currently issued smart driving license has the name “Union of India Driving License (Tamil Nadu)”. However, the current DMK government has not changed this.

In the news about the smart driving license issued in Vellore in 2019 during the AIADMK regime, we can see that the driving license card has the name “Union of India Driving License (Tamil Nadu)”.

It can be clearly seen that the issued year 2011 and 2016 is mentioned in the smart driving licenses shared by the Indu Makkal Katchi on Twitter.

When examining the driving licenses in other states to see if only Tamil Nadu is mentioning “Union of India” in the cards, it was seen that “Union of India” is mentioned along with “Gujarat state” in the driving license issued by the Gujarat state government in 2017.

Also, the name “Union of India” has been given in the smart driving license issued in Uttar Pradesh in 2015.

Conclusion

Indu Makkal Katchi’s claim that the driving license issued in Tamil Nadu under the DMK regime has included “Union of India” instead of “India” is a rumour. It is known that the name “Union of India” also appears in the smart driving license issued under the AIADMK regime and in the driving license issued in Gujarat.
