A 19-year-old Dalit woman who was allegedly raped and brutally assaulted by 4 upper castes in Hathras area of Uttar Pradesh on September 14, 2020 died on September 29 at the Delhi Safdarjung Hospital. Four people including Sandeep, his uncle Ravi, his friends Lavkush and Ramu were arrested in the case.

While doing a reverse image search of the photos that went viral claiming to be the father of Sandeep, who is accused in the Hathras case, was Shyam Prakash Dwivedi, a BJP leader from Prayagraj area of Uttar Pradesh. Photos of him with Modi and Yogi Adityanath were posted on his social media pages.
