The much-anticipated World Cup match between India and Pakistan was held on 14, October 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India won the match and improved the record to 8-0 against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup.


After India’s victory, a video purportedly showing a person breaking his television is shared to claim that he is a Pakistani fan and is breaking his TV out of frustration after India won the match against Pakistan in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. What is the truth?

When reverse searching the keyframes of the viral video we found that the video is of a Mexican fan breaking television during World Cup Football that was held in Qatar in 2022.

The Daily Mail article dated 1, December 2022 reported that a Mexican fan destroyed his TV with a knife following Mexico’s World Cup exit. The match was between Mexico and Saudi Arabia and though Mexico won the match they got eliminated on goal difference.

The Hindustan Mirror Youtube channel uploaded the same video on 2, December 2022 with the title ‘Mexico fan wildly destroys TV with knife in emotional outburst after World Cup heartbreak’.

The Sun article is found carrying the viral video reporting that it was the first time since 1978 that Mexico was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage. One of the Mexican fans could not take it and he destroyed his television with a knife. This video of him breaking his TV in 2022 is falsely shared linking to the recent India and Pakistan match.
