A video of a person being chased by a mob seen saved by police is shared widely with the claim that Right-wing domestic terrorists are chasing a minority like a vulture in riot-hit Haryana. The post further salutes the cop who ran to the rescue. This video is also shared with hashtags including Nuh clashes and Gurugram violence.

What is the truth?

One of the viral posts is seen quoting the video tweet by a user named Shuja. She posted the same video with the caption ‘Indian Muslims’. And to one of the comments ‘Which city?’, she replied as Dehradun.

With further search with relevant keywords, we found a video uploaded on the Drunk Journalist Youtube channel with the title ‘Muslim man thrashed by Hindu mob in Dehradun, Uttarakhand’, with a hashtag ‘attack on Muslims’ on 2, August 2023. But this video appears to be deleted when the link is checked.

We tried to identify the location using Google street view and ended up finding that the incident happened in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Photos of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital in Dehradun appear to match the viral video location.

The short boundary wall that is seen painted with repeated two alternate vertical lines, the pathway, and plant pots placed on a side of the path appears to be matching with the visuals from the viral video.

And red coloured hoarding that says ‘Food court and Canteen’ and the nearby building in a photo are also found matching to the visuals of the viral video.

Conclusion

It is found that a video from Dehradun, Uttarakhand is shared to falsely claim that it was recorded during Haryana violence.
