Meanwhile, a video purportedly showing a supersized Barbie walking out of a huge box near the Burj Khalifa building is viral. What is the truth?
When searching for the original version of the viral video we found the source video on the Instagram page named ‘Eye Studio’. The Instagram bio mentions itself as a ‘Creative content and social media agency’ located in Dubai, UAE. The page also highlighted that the video of Barbie amassed 50 million views. It further shared multiple posts and articles that reported about the video.
The Drum news report mentions that the video was created using CGI. It further stated that Eye Studio, a boutique agency in UAE created the clip as the team was tasked to superimpose Barbie next to the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. The article goes on stating the viral video was an in-footage trick, although some earned media claimed people were scared of the digital installation.
Hindustan Times reported that the CGI advertisement showing a supersized Barbie next to the Burj Khalifa building is a promotional activity for the film ‘Barbie’.
Sky News published the viral video with the title ‘Giant CGI Barbie spotted next to Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. It reported that a giant virtual model of Barbie standing in an enormous box next to Dubai’s iconic landmark, the Burj Khalifa skyscraper has gone viral.
It is found that the video of supersized Barbie stepping out of a huge box near Burj Khalifa is not a real 3D advertisement but a CGI advertisement campaign for the movie ‘Barbie’.
