The recent Manish Malhotra fashion show was held in the Namo Ghat, Varanasi, on April 14, 2024. The ramp walk stage was set near the bank of the Ganga, and the fashion ramp walk showstoppers were Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and actress Kriti Sanon. After the fashion show, Ranveer Singh said that I and other participants really liked the fashion show, and he also shared his experience about the fashion show event. Ranveer said walking beside the Ganga River is really a billion-dollar experience that even the Mumbai 5-star banquet can’t fulfil.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson and AICC communications coordinator for Telangana shared the 41-second video where Ranveer spoke to ANI. He is heard saying “Modi’s purpose and aim are only that he celebrates our sorrowful lives; he also celebrates our unemployment and inflation. India is now heading towards the ‘Injustice Period’.. We are heading fast, but we should never forget to ask for our development and justice, so think and vote.” The video ends with the slogan, ‘Whoever cares for the nation will cast the vote for justice. Vote for Nyay; vote for Congress’. The video looks like a congressional election campaign advertisement.

What’s the truth?
We ran a reverse search using the keyframes of the viral video, and we found the original video posted by ANI official X (previously Twitter) handle on April 14, 2024. In the original news byte video of Ranveer Singh, he said, “Today I experienced something that I don’t know how to describe in words. This is my first time visiting Kashi, and I want to visit this place again with my mom and wife. Visiting Kashi has a different vibe and energy while hearing mantras. While watching this place, I am feeling happy because this is Modi Ji’s purpose and aim.”
He further added, “He wants to celebrate our rich culture, heritage, history, and legacy because our India is growing fast towards modernity, and we should never forget about our roots and cultural heritage. That is why we need development as well as heritage because Kashi has history with development, and it’s an absolute wonder to see the past and present fused together in this one spectacular place.”
Many media outlets also reported, such as India TV, The Print, The Times of India, and India Today.
According to an ANI tweet, we find out that Ranveer actually praised PM Modi’s development work in Kashi. He never criticized PM Modi. The viral video has been edited and falsely shared.
