Explanation
A photo purportedly showing Jawaharlal Nehru carrying a bucket in his hand is circulated on Twitter and Facebook. The photo shows him walking on a path surrounded by trees along with two women. This image is shared to claim that he is following Edwina with a pot mentioning that in those days there were no toilets everywhere and this is how they answer the call of nature.

What is the truth?
When reverse-searching the viral image with Google Lens it is found that the viral image is photoshopped and fake.
The original photo is found posted on the Commons Wikipedia website. This photo does not show Nehru holding a bucket. He is seen empty-handed in the original photo. The image is titled “The Prime Minister Shri Jawaharlal Nehru’s & H.E. Countess Mountbatten are strolling during their holiday in Simla in May 1948.”
This photo is also found published on the Alamy website with the same caption that Nehru was in Simla in May 1948. The women in the photo are identified as Edwina and Promila Mountbatten. Other photos from the trip are also found posted on the Alamy website.
