As the Lok Sabha elections approach, both political parties have been disseminating negative videos and pictures of one another online.
This 51-second video shows police officers apprehending an elderly man. They push him into the police car after dragging him by his shirt. In the meantime, we observe someone else telling the police that the man who has been captured is aged. We also see another person using his smartphone camera to record the entire incident.
The poor looking old man who's being dragged like this is not any terrorist. His only mistake was he had a pet parrot & that parrot predicted that the DMK candidate is going to lose the election.

What’s the truth?
We began our analysis by using the “Polimer News logo” from the viral video as a hint and conducting relevant keyword searches on Google. Additionally, we observed that “Cuddalore” was their location in the viral video.
Our search led us to a Facebook video by the Polimer News. This video is a bit lengthy with a timeline of 4 minutes and 3 seconds. The video is title mentions that the police arrested those who protested against the construction of Vallalar International Center and went into the ditch.
Here in this video, we were able to see the viral portion at the very beginning of the news clip.
Upon examining the footage, we saw numerous individuals being taken into custody by law enforcement and placed inside police vehicles. In the spirit of protest, a few individuals who entered a ground-level pit were also arrested.
The news clip continued with BJP state chief K Annamalai criticizing M.K. Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu. We were able to ascertain throughout the entire video that there isn’t any parrot or its astrologer in the viral video.
All of these facts make it clear that the widely circulated rumor that an 81-year-old astrologer had been arrested is untrue and deceptive. Though there was a similar incident that a couple of parrot fortune tellers who predicted the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) candidate’s victory were arrested on a charge of keeping parrots caged, this viral video is not related to the said incident nor the elderly person was arrested for predicting 2024 election results.
Conclusion:
We thus conclude that the widely circulated claims that a parrot astrologer was detained for forecasting that DMK would lose in the 2024 election are erroneous and inaccurate.
He was taken into custody for participating in a protest against the Vallalar International Center’s construction.
