What is the truth?
When searching for the news on YSRCP’s social media handles, the verified Twitter account of YSRCP tweeted a video on 21, December 2022 mentioning that Andhra Pradesh enters the Genius book of records for the largest-ever blood donation drive on the occasion of AP CM’s 50th birthday. A Facebook post by Jagan Pusapati carries the images of the certificate and badge in which it is mentioned as the ‘Genius Book of Records’. The record is for a massive pledge of blood donation. It is mentioned that 1,29,451 people across the world registered both online and offline in 24 hours on 21, December 2022 for blood donation.
When searching for the record on the website of ‘Genius Book of Records’, we could not find any such record in it. It might not have been updated on the website yet.
When searching for the most people signed up as blood donors on the ‘Guinness World Records’ website, we found a record of volunteers from South Korea who achieved getting 71,121 participants signed up online for blood donation in 24 hours.
Conclusion
It is evident that YSRCP entered the ‘Genius Book of Records’ and not ‘Guinness World Records’ as claimed by the Times of India and other social media posts.
