What’s the truth?

Our investigation began with a simple reverse image search of the viral video’s keyframes, which directed us to Samashti Gubbi’s @sanskritsparrow Instagram feed.

We discovered from reading her bio that she is a 23-year-old Sanskrit scholar who resides in Bangalore, Karnataka.

To establish a platform for Sanskrit, she found sthaayi. in, a production company that plans bike rides, marathons, competitions, and treks with Sanskrit-themed events.

After looking through her page, we discovered that this viral video was uploaded on June 6 and had the disclaimer, “The above content is a dubbed voiceover. This was not announced on any flight. This does not have anything to do with Akasa Air management.”

She has also included hashtags for Sanskrit videos, Sanskrit Vlogger, and other Sanskrit-related terms. We discovered many more songs and videos with Sanskrit dubbing while browsing her Instagram page.

Using this as a cue we searched further with pertinent keywords such as “Does Akasa Airline use Sanskrit for announcements in their planes?” This immediately brought us to the June 13, 2024, tweet by Akasa Air.

According to the tweet it read as “we would like to clarify that our inflight announcements are delivered in Hindi and English. The announcement in the video is not an official one and seems to be a dubbed video that has been shared.”

With the support of all these facts, it is clarified that the viral Akasa Airlines video is a voiceover by a Sanskrit scholar rather than a real Sanskrit announcement.

Conclusion:

We therefore conclude that the widely circulated rumor that Akasa Airline is announcing in Sanskrit is fake. Actually, it’s a voiceover dubbed with disclaimers by a Sanskrit scholar. Furthermore, Akasa Airline has denied the rumors, stating that the video is an altered version rather than the original.
